The Manga Studio for Dummies Blog is intended to be an ever-evolving addendum to the book of the same name.
While the book is intended to give you a basic understanding of both the Debut and EX versions of Manga Studio 3.0, this site allows for a bit more breathing room. Questions you may have can now be answered. Topics that weren’t discussed (or were glossed over) due to constraints can now be expanded upon. New information, tidbits, or tips and tricks can be brought to your attention.
While topics that you can find the answer for in the book won’t be covered here (there has to be some incentive to pick up the book), the intention of this site is to help clarify what might not have been explained well enough, as well as cover alternative methods that might not have been thought of prior to the book’s completion.
Hopefully, you’ll find this site to be helpful companion to your copy of Manga Studio For Dummies.
(And if you haven’t picked you a copy of the book yet….what are you waiting for!!)
About the Book
Not long ago, Manga’s distinctive drawing style was too exacting for any consumer-priced software to handle. Then along came Manga Studio, and comic artists began creating their comics using this unique tool.
Manga Studio lets you manage your artwork just as you would on paper, with pen and pencil tools that work the way you want. Manga Studio For Dummies shows you how to use the software to create and publish comics in Manga style or other comic styles like a pro. You’ll find out the secrets to:
- Installing and setting up Manga Studio
- Understanding the toolbars and palettes
- Building and using page templates
- Importing art files
- Working with layers and rulers
- Inking your work and adding tones
- Using digital and traditional tools to complement each other
- And much more!
Included with the book is a 30-day free trial version of Manga Studio EX on the bonus CD-ROM, and you can register it at a discounted rate when the trial period ends. The CD-ROM also includes a library of images, sample Manga Studio Files, and additional chapters that couldn’t fit in the book.
