FAQ: Will there be an Updated MS4D book that covers Version 4?

Not in the immediate future. Wiley Publishing is currently not interested in producing a new Manga Studio For Dummies book that covers Manga Studio 4. If I hear word that they do want to make a new Dummies book, I’ll be sure to let you all know.

The good news is that if you have the MS4D book, you’re pretty much covered with Manga Studio 4. I say “pretty much”, because the basics of the program are the same as version 3 (with different names in some places), but new features aren’t covered (for obvious reasons).

That said there are a couple of places to find updated information on Manga Studio 4. Think of them as your online addendum to the book:

• Formspring/MS4D Blog: This is one way to get (almost) instant answers to your Manga Studio questions. If you go to the MS4D blog (http://ms4d.pnhcomics.com), there’s a formspring..uh…form on the right-hand column. Any questions that are answered will be placed on the Formspring page (http://www.formspring.me/ms4d), as well as the MS4D blog.
• Smith Micro’s website: The official site where you can purchase Manga Studio (http://manga.smithmicro.com/) also is home to several tutorials and videos that cover the basics and new features of Manga Studio 4. There’s also a video by legendary artist Dave Gibbons (Watchmen), creating a cover he did for ImagineFX Magazine.

If you’re truly interested in seeing a new Dummies book produced, the best way to do that is to purchase the current one. If the sales improve, then so do the odds.
